Rain Forest Alliance

We are trying to do our bit by engaging ourselves in sustainable agricultural practices, social welfare and development of its work force. After Two years of working all our Tea Estates are Rainforest Alliance Certified. The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior.

By choosing our Tea's, together we are helping to protect the environment, whilst ensuring decent working conditions for our workers and providing access to education and healthcare to them and their families.

Ethical Tea Partnership

The Ethical Tea Partnership (ETP) is a not-for-profit membership organisation of tea companies that share a vision of a thriving tea industry that is socially just and environmentally sustainable. ETP works with producers who supply ETP member companies to monitor and improve the social and environmental conditions under which tea is produced and to improve the lives of tea workers. All our Tea Estates are participants of ETP. The leaves are then taken into the factory, spread onto large trays and racks and left to wither in warm air.

International Organization for Standardization

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world's largest developer and publisher of International Standards.

ISO 9001:2008 sets out the criteria for a quality management system. The standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement

ISO 22000:2005 is a food safety management standard. Both the Factories of Mokalbari are ISO 9001 and IS0 22000 Certified

Maximum Residue Level (MRL)

Maximum Residue Level (MRLs) is an international standard indicating the permissible level of residues being found in most edible agro products and predominantly found from usage of pesticide/insecticide/weedicide etc. Our Tea Estates own policies related to these inputs comply with the "Directives of the European Commission" of the European Union as well as the MRLs requirements of other countries such as Japan and the USA. To ensure acceptability/compliance of these guidelines, our teas are regularly tested at NABL accredited laboratories in India as well as reputed laboratories in Germany Finally, the oxidised leaves are dried completely which further changes the colour of the leaves to black. The tea is now made. The tea will then be sorted into varying sizes before being weighted and packed into tea chests some for loose tea and some for tea bags. Along the way the Factory Tea Tasters will check the flavour of the tea and to make sure it is not contaminated, and once satisfied, samples will be sent to brokers to be evaluated for quality and of course, price.
